There’s nothing quite like being in a medieval French village during the holidays. Here’s hoping you enjoy this Christmas in Uzès preview.
I not exaggerating when I say that Christmas in Uzès is fairy-tale-worthy. From the festive decorations on street lamps, roadways, and walkways in town to store windows filled with holiday gift items, it’s truly one of the most magical places in the world.
When I hear the holiday music that fills the streets at Christmas, I close my eyes and imagine Uzès through the years. Yes, the people change, and the shops may differ, but we walk the same streets where carriages used to go. The Place aux Herbes is the gathering spot and center of activity for townspeople, as it has been for many years.
There are holiday markets that draw craftspeople and merchants from near and far. They bring wine, olive oils, cheeses, nougat, and assortments of olives, nuts, candies, and more. Baskets filled with charcuterie, tapenade, and crispy crackers are decorated and ready for you to take away.
A Christmas in Uzès Preview
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you be of good cheer
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It’s the hap-happiest season of all
