You’d be right if your Nice city break is all about fancy Cรดte d’Azur beach clubs, great French and Italian food, and the sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean. It’s all that…
… and more.ย
Nice was the home of artist Marc Chagall during the last part of his life. His most extensive collection is permanently enshrined in the Musรฉe National Marc Chagall, specifically, his “Bible” series. The museum is a bit hard to find, nestled in a park-like setting in a residential neighborhood of Nice, but it is worth the effort to go there if you’re an art lover.

In addition to the paintings that Chagall offered to the French State in 1966, he created the stained glass windows facing the garden and the concert hall.
Chagall’s surrealistic approach to his subject and bright primary colors are what delighted me about the exhibit. His deep understanding of the Bible, which came from his roots and years of study as a Hasidic Jew growing up in Russia, is more than evident in his work. Yet the simplicity of his characters makes the stories easy to grasp for all.
I did not see the Bible; I dreamed it. Ever since early childhood, I have been captivated by the Bible. It has always seemed to me, and still seems today, the most significant source of poetry.
